An Interview With a Goddess: Amy Indira Ramdass

Amy is an intoxicating beauty. She is outspoken, passionate and a profoundly gifted writer. She is the personification of goddess. She is utterly joyful, playful, sensual and wise. Her positive attitude and bright spirit are beacons in a dark world. She possesses a grace and inner beauty that is tangible and empowering to all who would spend a moment in her presence. She exudes the energy of sisterhood, and with an open heart she welcomes you into her circle of love. I adore her honesty; her brave soul which allows her to delve into the very core of life and share the essence of what is meaningful, kind and true. Her smile is absolutely gorgeous, and upon seeing it, it's impossible not to smile in return. Amy is a woman that I am honored to call sistar and friend. I know you will be delighted and inspired by this interview with a goddess.

I am delighted to introduce this months 21st Century Goddess to you:
Amy Indira Ramdass

5 Questions I ask of the Goddess in You:

1.
How do you nurture & nourish your self so that you may embody the goddess?

Mmm, I need to know too, so thanks for this dreamy, delightfulness of a question, it’s time I quest for the answer, explore how I’m able to embody the goddess.

Hmm, you think it’s because I’m sleeping with bliss itself? Ha Ha. Okay, that’s just a portion of it, the rest of the nourishing and nurturing of me is earned by working at a full-time job, keeping my home in a tranquil state, and maintaining balance by being considerate, loving unconditionally-ally while silently applauding all around me for managing to keep their heads above the drowning waves of life. I find I’m better equipped to n&n me when my world is in harmony with me.

Aftersome “me-time” has accumulated, it’s time to head to the gym for some physical exercisewhich also helps to embolden and empower the goddess within me to walk thetalk,
to ride the crest of the goddess wave and never fall off! Say,have you ever had one of those oneness-with-the-world-moments where you wishedthe whole world was watching you?
Well, when I am in the nurturing andnourishing of mind, body, spirits mode, is the exact time I’d love to be onsome reality TV show. Can you imaginethe scene? Mmm. Exactly. The goddess in me simply loves to worship her entire being from the top of her divalicious head to her root chakra (giggles) and all the way down to the tips of her soul ... er ... sole. Oh, riiight, if there are drums around, this would be the time to start rolling, and right, same to all you hidden cameras, keep rolling on me house cleaning, folding laundry, having sleeping moments, waking ones, stretching, yawning, writing, listening to music, dancing, eating healthy foods, reading, curling up on the couch to watch movies, relaxing in a tub of warm water, meditating, reflecting, drinking in the the sounds of falling water, and gazing outside at the rain.

You see? Those are all N&N moments. My entire home is my spa which keeps me in the perfect shape of marvel, wonder and playfulness. Come to think of it, the sun-deck and garden are extension of this awesome spa of mine. And you know what else? It comes with singing birds, sparkling stars and pure sunbeams. In winter days, if they are none around to chirp their sweet little heads off, the little warblers are inside my head. And as for the sparkling stars and shining sunbeams, why, they are wide awake inside me to add sparkle to the dreariest winter moments... Most of what I do outside of my home is considered spa moments too, yes even at work, my legs curled up in my chair and sipping immortality tea while I work the hours away. It’s just as awesome when I’m shopping. Mmm, the goddess in me loves shopping; in fact, she thinks it’s some kind of secret therapy so it’s great she is reluctant to venture out of her sanctuary or I’d be financially bankrupt. However, whatever it takes to keep her dwelling in this space, her very own temple; I’m woman for the job, to embody, nurture and nourish the goddess within me so she can continue to fill her world with empathy, compassionate, unconditional love and wonder.

2.
What inspires you and expands your awareness?

This entire world, the one outside of me, mmm, hugely inspiring and stimulating! The innocence and wonder of children, the inner strength and nurturing nature of women, the awesome creative force in men, a funny phrase, the truth of a quote, the fragrance of flowers, the enchantment of stories, the tranquility of a pond, the magic of words, the shape of leaves, the warm delight of playful breeze, the stillness of dusk, the magnetic pull of stars, the morning dew on flower petals, the soft feel of grass, the chirp of birds, the healing of sunshine, the sheer beauty of nature, the cozy warmth of winter, the power of love, the deliciousness of dreams, and yep, this world of mine definitely conspires to inspires little ol’ me. Hey! Me too, I inspire me! Mmm. I love me, love meditating on me, love being me, and going deep down into my own nature...to study me, me, me.

Recently, my Facebook friends have been inspiring me at every turn, including you, Leesa. Take Wendy for instance, the moment I mentioned the spelling of how my birth country used to be Guiana but it eventually morphed into G.u.y.a.n.a, she pointed out that Guiana was probably more Gaia, matriarchal, and as patriarchal influence took stronger roots, Guiana become more ..uh...Guy-ana. And that inspired me to look into it, and I re-discovered the name Guiana came from the natives of Guyana, an Amerindian word which means, “Land of many waters.” And according to Sitchin, and the Babylonian Creation epic, the Enuma Elish, Tiamat, the original earth/gaia was also known as the watery planet....and that not only made me go, wow, but it also inspired me to be on the lookout for significance and symbolism in every ancient act. LOL. You see where I plan to sail with all of this? Yes, to a whole new fictional tall tale. Ha ha!

3.
What poem, quote, song, or book both breaks & opens your heart?

Poem:

Thunder, Perfect Mind,

a Gnostic poem that confirms our-very-difficult-to accept-contradictory nature.

I am the first and the last.
I am the honoured one and the scorned one
I am the whore, and the holy one
I am the wife and the virgin
I am the mother and the daughter
I am she whose wedding is great, and I have not taken a husband
I am knowledge, and ignorance
I am shameless; I am ashamed
I am strength, and I am fear
I am foolish, and I am wise
I am godless, and I am one whose God is great.

Quote:
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you’re a lion or gazelle - when the sun comes up, you’d better be running.”

Well, it’s not the quote that breaks my heart so much as the picture it dredges up, a 1994 Pulitzer Prize winning photo by Kevin Carter. It’s an image of a famished child crawling towards a feeding camp and a starving vulture moving in slowly on her.

Song:
U2
Sometimes you can’t make it on your own.”

I have a sneaky feeling this song was created by the universe just for me. I mean, why does it make me cry all the time? And yes, I’m crying now as I write, crying for all of us who have to go it alone, crying for all those who I love, especially my mother. By just being her natural self, she inspired me to transcend whatever is it that keeps me from supporting my fellow women, made me see that we are our own enemies.

Book:
Chicken Soup for the Soul.

It is pure inspiration for the spirits, and truth be told, the first serving broke opened my heart and allowed my compassionate nature to shine true.

4.
What truth do you live by that brings you back to your center, your place of balance?

A quote:

“The seed of all things exist in you as in me” not only helps to keep my double standards in check but it also renders me incapable of prejudging others. By being kind to others, I am being kind to me. Here is another quote, The Essence of Compassion which also helps me keep the balance: - "Resolve to be tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant with the weak and wrong… because sometime in your life you will have been all of these."

5.
What are you creating now that may inspire our sistars?

I am working on a new novel, a book of inspirational short stories, and video poems...

Please share a personal blessing for my readers as closing to this interview.

May the sacred feminine continue to shine bright...
May we support and bless each other with healing light...
To nurture and nourish all in our world
Nature and man, and every boy and girl...
